Upcoming Events -
December:
Operation Santa will be on Saturday, December 16th. from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Members of the Melville Volunteer Fire Department will bring Santa Claus on Fire Trucks to the neighborhoods of Melville, distributing candy canes to the children.

March:
Our annual Fund Drive appeal to businesses and residents.
May:
Memorial Day Parade starts 10:00 AM on Memorial Day
National Firefighters Week recognizes the dedication of
firefighters across the country.
EMS Week will bring together local communities and medical
personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide
the day-to-day lifesaving services of the medical "front line."
October:
Annual Open House to demonstrate our skills and educate
the public.
During Fire Prevention Week, we educate the public to help prevent fires
and ensure the safety of our homes and community.
During Operation EDITH we encourage all residents to practice exiting
their home in case of emergency. Everyone should know two ways out of
every room.
December:
During Operation Santa we will deliver Santa and Candy
Canes by fire truck to the children of the district.

Melville, NY: Sept. 25, 2005: On January 4, 2004 Officer Russ DeCourcy, a 37 year member of the Melville Volunteer Fire Department,without regard for his own
personal safety rescued an elderly woman from a private dwelling fire. Officer Russ
DeCourcy entered the burning structure searching for the occupant that
neighbors reported maybe inside. After exhausting search efforts the overcome woman
was found and removed from the home. This rescue was also performed with
assistance from Chief Philip Tepe of the Dix Hills Fire Department. For his
extreme personal risk, Officer and Firefighter Russ DeCourcy has been awarded the
Suffolk County Class 1 Gold Medal of Valor.

Melville, NY: Sept. 20, 2005: The Melville Volunteer Fire Department has dedicated
its annual Door-to-Door Fund Drive to benefit the
volunteer firefighters of the Gulf States effected by
the recent hurricanes. All proceeds will go directly
to volunteer firefighters who are in need.

Melville, NY: Aug. 27, 2004: The Melville Volunteer Fire Department announces the addition of our new E-One, 105 foot, aerial platform. This truck replaces our 22-year-old LTI platform adding more capabilities and enhanced safety features. It carries 150 gallons of water, has a 2,000 gallon per minute pump and carries onboard breathing air and electrical power. Safety features include an enclosed cab for all passengers, a platform level camera system in order to operate the ladder without members in the platform and an intercom system for all passengers.

Melville, NY: Mar. 3, 2004: Erection of the Memorial to those who lost their
lives on September 11, 2001. This memorial is constructed of a
piece of steel from the World Trade Center.

Melville, NY: June. 27, 2004: The Melville Fire District announces
the opening of Sub-Station #3 located at Old Country Road and New
York Avenue. It was dedicated in the presence of the members of
the Melville Volunteer Fire Department and the community present.

Melville, NY: July 17, 2004: In memory of Firefighter Richard
Brooks of the Amityville Fire Department (NYPD Ret.) who lost his
life while working as a Babylon Town Bay Constable.
