The Melville Volunteer Fire Department

Located 36 miles east of New York City, the area the Melville Volunteer Fire Department protects is at the west edge of Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. Since 1947, the area the Melville Volunteer Fire Department protects has changed from a small rural community to a large suburban community home to major corporations in the busy Route 110 corridor. These businesses and the transportation links provided by the Long Island Expressway, Route 110 and the Northern State Parkway contribute to the over 250,000 people who pass through this area daily. The 15 square mile Fire District also includes a rapidly growing residential population with over 7,100 homes, schools, shopping centers and health care facilities. We respond to over 2,400 calls each year.
